I Am Ghost
After playing just four local shows, few would have predicted they would quickly sell 20,000 copies across the country through the power of the internet, and be the darlings of the Warped Tour and Alternative Press by the following summer. Now comes Lovers Requiem, a full-length debut so ambitious and assured that it seems the work of a much more established band. From the baroque Latin chorus that opens the CD, to the punishing guitar overdrive of first video/single Our Friend Lazarus Sleeps, Lovers Requiem will take fans of the EPs haunting melodicism to new symphonic heights. And fans of My Chemical Romance, HIM and AFI will discover a great new dark voice, the power and majesty that is I Am Ghost.
We cought up with Tim on a rainy day outside of the Avalon in Hollywood, CA before their show with Strung Out and Evergreen Terrace. We had a short chat about their most memorable Warped Tour moment and a little about their upcoming album due out in 2008.
LBM: The kids wanna know about the new album.
Tim: New album. I Am Ghost. Its gonna be a bit more darker but we're gonna still have like you know, the fucking hits, radio shit. But its gonna be harder, more groovy, some dancy, but its still gonna sound like I Am Ghost.
Have you guys started recording it yet?
Nah, we plan to record probably in the spring. For now we're just gonna take some time off and finish writing the new album. We've been writing on the road, I got my little computer... you know.
Hows the writing going with the whole line up change in the band?
It seems to be easier. It flows better since you know, there's less members. Too many damn cooks in one fucking room, you know? So its much easier now.
I heard you had a good story about Warped Tour.
Yeah, we were in Canada and we were watching Scary Kids and we were just chillin and this dude and girl go behind the stage, right behind this tall grass and they started fucking bustin' it out, started knockin' it up. Homeboy over there fucking pops the camera and says "cheese motherfucka!"
<Laughs> Is it up on YouTube now?
Nah... it disappeared. Gone. Don't know where that's at.
