Musink
The first annual Musink 2008 hosted by Kat Von D. This was a 3 day tattoo and music festival that took place in Orange County, CA. Not a place you'd expect Kat to be hosting something like this, seeing how its about 45 minutes away from Hollywood. But after reading about all the problems she encountered during her 24 hour tattoo bonanza, I'm sure LA might not have been a good idea.
It was great seeing so many quality artists under one roof. Jack Rudy, Gil Montie, Bob Tyrrell, Lindsey H. Carmichael, Jerimiah Barba, Mike Dervies, the list goes on and on! Having attended so many tattoo conventions in the past, this was a breath of fresh air, because these were all quality artists and people getting new tattoos weren't gonna be getting hacked by poor quality artists. This was definitly one of the better conventions as far as artists who attended goes.
On the downside, having a convention that is being hosted by the LA Ink staff might not have been such a good idea. It attracted fans of the show that normally would never attend a tattoo convention, who rather then look around and get to know all the other great artist on hand, were either waiting in line for hours to meet the LA Ink staff and get their picture taken or crowding around to watch them tattoo.
But rather then sit here and go on and on about the negatives, we realize things won't always be perfect and Kat really did work her ass off to make this event happen! So we here at LBM decided to pick some of our favorite artists who worked Musink and do a little survey with them. So if you were one of the thousands of fans standing in line to meet Kat or crowding around to watch Cory, Hannah or Kim work, keep reading and meet some of the other great artists Kat hand picked to work Musink. You might even find yourself a new tattoo artist! I know I did!
